Interviewer: One of the things I want to go back to is were there any global influences? Any movements around the world, around the different nations that influenced you? Aaron: You mean personally? Interviewer: Yeah, like back in the day when you were doing— Aaron: Yeah, Vietnam War was one and the Cuba Revolution, the Angola Revolution, the Chinese Revolution. Revolutionary movements period. We studied revolutionary movements around the world. Particularly, some of the socialist revolutions. The Russian Revolution. All that had an influence on our organization and our thinking. Interviewer: Can you speak a little bit about relationships that you had with the Cuban Revolution and the Cuban government? Aaron: Outside of just supporting the Cuban Revolution and the Cuban government expressing support for us, I can’t think of no real tangible things that I can point out that come out of our relationship, but we’ve always had a warm relations with the Cuban government and (inaudible) highly respectable of Fidel and their struggle over there. The Cuban government has always opened their arms to party members who got in trouble and wanted to go somewhere. Interviewer: Did y’all get any support for the Chinese government or the Russian government or these other socialist movements? Aaron: I don’t know of any material support. Money or guns or nothing. They’ve always supported us. Always had warm relations with them. As you know, Hughie was invited to China. Met with Ho Chi Minh, (inaudible.) Met with Mao Zedong. They’ve always expressed support for us. That’s another reason why I admire the Black Panther Party. It’s always been admired and respected around the world by revolutionary movements. They’ve always expressed support for us and showed admiration for us.
