Interviewer: Can you describe the purpose and goal of People’s Party Two? Aaron: Purpose and goal? Purpose and goal was to free black people. To empower black people. To have decent housing, education, end of police brutality, respect, dignity. It’s about all that, you know what I mean? That’s basically—I can feel all that, you know what I mean? Self-defense. The idea of defending ourselves because the civil rights movement at the time was going on. The idea of not being non-violent, that idea appealed to me to. Interviewer: What are your feelings about the self-defense and the non-violent? Were they in conflict with one another or did you think the two ideas were on the same wavelength? What was your opinion about the two methods? Aaron: Well, we had a right to defend ourselves. Plus, you know, I’m a young man. Used to watch the TV and see black people getting beat up, heads knocked in, and I didn’t think we should have to do that without defending ourselves. I could relate to that idea. Blacks defending themselves, bearing arms, you know? I could relate to that.
