Interviewer-"You said it wasn't a predominely Hilspanic neighborhood [?]" Mr. Garza-Cause now, its predominely Hispanic [?] but I would work nights and I started getting involved in a school [?] during the day and thats really where I got exposed to education. They were making trips to other schools in the district and I was just amazed [?]. So, when we moved to [?] in West Colorado [?] and the president had a run-in with the principal, lol. So, I ended up as president, the principal wanted the PTA [?] When I became president [?] About that time, the Civil Rights became active in California and it was a lot scarier which was very pronounced highly publicized. When that happened, of course, African Americans became well-known for their advocacy in their civil rights and then some Hispanic leaders in Texas started asking [?] met in Austin, Joe Bernall, Frank Hernandez here in Dallas and others parts of the state had a a big meeting in Austin and they got a lot publicity about thier meeting and when I read about that, I started [?] We had a Hispanic Annual Conference in Texas. We were going to cover [?]. So, when I came to Dallas I became well involved with that group and they immediately gave me responsibilities-having to develop a speaking program, a scholarly program, and I was traveling all over the states-Texas and New Mexico doing some leadership conferences, so all of that had me developed some skills in the area of education [?] Then, I started raising questions catholic church [?] and I asked him, I said, "look we are doing something in Dallas similar what is happend in the state of [?] so......
