So, they agreed with me, so, we got some, well I had a friend that had a funding for a conference in Dallas. So, we looked around [?], but anyway we could'nt find a place in Dallas that was worth [?] on a Friday and a Saturday. So, we [?] on a Friday afternoon and then spent the night there and then concluded on Saturday morning. And, we convinced around 75 Hispanic leaders to just talk about what areas of interest and go in a place for Hispanic involvement in Dallas. Interviewer-"These 75 people, they were all from Dallas?" Mr. Garza-Yes, yes they were all from Dallas [?] a large number [?] young people because in that time, there was students who were going to UTA [?] Interviewer-"The Brown Berets?" Mr. Garza-The Brown Berets were one of them [?]. And, I remember sitting in at one of [?] they were having just talking [?] but when I heard these couple of young people express their interest and I was thinking to myself, well, God, what are we adults doing?, lol! [?] And, they went on to challenge Eric Johnson was the mayor of Dallas on what they should be doing, they had a picket at the end of city hall and thats when they were [?] I remember the group telling me, they had tried to break in to city council and they had blocked a lot of [?]. When I teamed up with Father David [?] were Hispanic, the mood was to do something [?] but the group that organized in North Dallas and South Dallas [?] and they had organized in the mid-sixties and were electing the first African-American to school board [?] that was in 1965 or 66. 67? I remember the exact date, but anyway [?] So, when this developed in 69, the board then had to charge [?] election [?] so, someone got thrown in for that. [?] The group that had the conference threw money in there [?]. I went to my leadership [?] So, I remember [?] I won't give my permission to do this, so, he allowed me to be considered and I could say I was surprised the school was [?], lol!....
