Littleton: I’m from Crane, TX. Three thousand people and my mama always told me to be the best that you could be. Joann, you’re from a family of firsts, so you strive to be the best and you’re going to be the best. I don’t—y’all sit over there. Over where? I feel that I’m as good as the next person. I feel that everybody should be treated across the board and when I run into people that talk down to you and why do you need this and why are you—that raises my blood pressure. In 2016, I strive to teach young people, like, look you haven’t arrive. Yeah, we just celebrated Juneteenth. It’s a celebration of freedom. That’s a big lie. It’s not a celebration because there’s still small-minded people in this world that feel like they’re better than you are. That you don’t deserve this. You shouldn’t be here. You shouldn’t do this. You shouldn’t say—it’s here. So, what do you do? You deal with it. Don’t ignore it because when you ignore it, you make the problem worse. Don’t sweep it under the rug, it makes it worse. Deal with it. Many people, they don’t like to deal with adversity. Anybody that knows me, they will say, you know Mrs. Joann, don’t—if you don’t mean it or you can’t repeat it, don’t tell Mrs. Joann because she believes in getting all the liars in the same room. Oh yeah. Get all the liars in the same room so we can see where the real Judas stand up. That’s what it should be. Just treat everybody the same, but it doesn’t happen.
