Interviewer-"Alright, well it looks like we have a lot to talk about today, luckily were here, we could get it all on camera, its all film and audio-recorded, so let me just go ahead and do an introduction, just some notes here..um, so today is Wednesday June 10th 2015 this is [?] and I'm with Professor [?] we are alll in the Civil Rights Black and Brown history project and today we are interviewing Robert Medrano in his home in Dallas, TX. So, I wanna thank you for welcoming us into your home and agreeing to share your story with us. Before we begin, I would like to explain this interview, I have parts to it. First, I would like to talk about your personal biography and family history..that sort of thing background.. "Mr. Medrano-[?] Interviwer-"Right, right, your education, quick geneology and then I want to talk about the Dallas Brown Berets, really interested in that." Mr. Medrano-You got some stuff. Interviewer-"We have some stuff, whenever we get to it. Then I'll talk about your involvement in [?] poverty, which would finally overlap with your time with the Berets, if I'm not mistaken, uhh and I want to talk about your time on the school board [?] So. to begin you say your name, preferred spelling, and your birth." Mr. Medrano-My name is Robert Medrano, and its R-O-B-E-R-T. Medrano is M-E-D-R-A-N-O. Interviewer-"And when is your birthday?" Mr. Medrano-its December 11, 1942 and I'm 72 years old. Interviwer-"And where were you born?" Mr. Medrano- I was born in Dallas, TX about a mile and half from here and what we call is..they call it "The old little Mexico Village" the old little Mexico town, they also used to call it "Flo Town". So, anything south on Oak Boulevard is considered "Little Mexico" and the north of Oakland is considered the New Mexico Area because of growth and [?] Interviewer-"This is just a disclaimer, I'm actually from Corpus Christi, I'm new to North Texas, I might have to, I'm familiar with Oakland you know with the big landmark
